HANDS - HELPING HANDS
HANDS -
HELPING HANDS
When our hearts have been consecrated to God, we have given Him direct access to our lives. From that point on, our speech will be directed by God. Our feet will be following Him—going where He leads. And when our feet have taken us to the area where He would have us serve, our hands must be ready to perform the task God has for each of us, be it great or small.
KEY VERSE: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” (Ecclesiastes 9:10)
LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
Joshua went down to fight, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur proceeded to the top of the hill.
While Moses held up his hands, Israel prevailed.
When his hands got heavy and he let them down, Amalek prevailed.
Moses sat on a stone, with Aaron and Hur holding up his hands, until Joshua discomfited Amalek.
Aaron and Hur were in the right place in the heat of the battle.
Although not in the limelight of the battle, the role they enacted in this Scripture was vital and has been written as part of a memorial for our admonition.
Everybody is unique – there can’t be another you!
You have a particular life’s purpose – Have you discover it?
What is your place in God’s Business? – Are you a stake holder?
Good Leadership: is crucial - We need “Moses” anointed leaders
Obedient Lieutenants: We need obedient “Joshuas” – brave, Leader-in-waiting – advance preparations
Humble supporters: We need “Aarons” – “subordinate elder brother” – cooperate with God’s mission
Willing Hands: We need “Hur” - available for use at nick of time
United Team: We need a Team to face the challenges of today – Unique individuals but united in purpose
The Secret: Victory in the secret (on the knees) leads to victory in the open.
2 Timothy 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
Divine Strategy and Obedience (Moses)
“Victory begins when we follow God’s strategy, not our own understanding.”
“Moses stood on the hill not to escape the battle, but to fight it in the spirit.”
“Great leaders know when to lift their hands in prayer and when to send others into action.”
“Joshua teaches us that faith must walk onto the battlefield—belief alone is not enough.”
“While others pray on the mountain, someone must fight in the valley—both are sacred assignments.”
“Courage is obedience in motion, even when the outcome is unseen.”
“When Moses grew weary, Aaron and Hur became the strength he no longer had.”
“Some victories are only possible when hands are lifted together.”
“True ministry is not always leading—it is often holding up someone else.”
“The battle may be in the valley, but the outcome is decided on the hill.”
“When prayer weakens, resistance strengthens; when prayer rises, victory returns.”
“Moses needed Aaron and Hur, and Joshua needed Moses—no calling stands by itself.”
“The greatest triumphs come when different callings move in unity.”
Which Character “part” do I most need to practice right now—prayerful support like Moses, active obedience like Joshua, or faithful encouragement like Aaron and Hur?
What will I do this week?
Challenge: Am I adding value?
2. How were the hearts,
tongues, feet, and hands of the four men named in question 1 involved in this
sequence of events?
LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
Which of these—heart, tongue, feet, and hands— was most important?
-All were important.
The importance of using all our faculties in getting a job done in the service of the Lord cannot be overemphasized
God requires our complete whole – ALL – Every unit must be put on deck
Every blessing, opportunity and capacity is an opportunity to invest for God
Team had obedient hearts that received the word and believed the word of instruction
Their belief became faith and faith is put into action by the feet and hand
The Team’s endurance to fight to finish is worthy of note.
Our confession (with our mouth) must be agreement with where we go and what we do.
We walk the talk and talk the walk – for emphasis’s sake!
The Heart – Surrendered to God:
“A surrendered heart is the foundation of every spiritual victory.”
“Moses’ strength was not in his arms, but in a heart fully yielded to God.”
“When the heart is devoted to God, even weakness becomes a channel for divine power.”
“God does not first ask for your ability—He asks for your heart.”
“Moses’ words sent Joshua into battle—what we speak can release purpose in others.”
“A tongue guided by God can turn fear into courage.”
“Speak what God says, even when the battle has not yet been won.”
“Victory often begins with a word spoken in faith.”
“Joshua’s feet carried him into the fight—faith must move, not just believe.”
“Where obedience walks, God’s power follows.”
“The feet that step forward in faith will see God move in power.”
“It is not enough to know God’s will—we must walk in it.”
“Moses lifted his hands in prayer; Aaron and Hur held them up—together they sustained victory.”
“Hands lifted to God bring power; hands joined with others bring endurance.”
“No hand lifted for God is ever wasted—whether in prayer, labor, or support.”
How can I use my heart, tongue, feet, and hands in a way that helps God’s cause win—today?
3. How were these four men
doing what is commanded in our key verse? Explain the verse and write how you
think it applies to our lives.
LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
They were doing what their hands found to do as was needed at that time.
We will enjoy God’s favor as we perform tasks that are in accordance with God’s will and the needs at hand.
The outcome of the warfare depended on their willingness to perform the task that was made obvious.
We must be alert to a need and then be willing to proceed accordingly.
KEY POINTS AND APPLICATIONS:
“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”
(Ecclesiastes 9:10)
“Whatsoever” – No untouched
or grey areas where God cannot lay His hand on
It begins with your capacity – God will not demand for what you cannot do
Diligence is the key – the best is best for God – If you want God’s best, give Him your best
Life time is working time – Work while you have the knowledge, skills and strength
Saw the need to fight the Amalekite.
-Is there such a need today?
Moses given instruction to fight.
-Do we have such leaders who are in such relationship with God to give us directions today?
Joshua agreed to lead the physical front of the battle with no hesitation.
-Do we have such physical battle fronts today?
Aaron and Hur went with Moses to pray.
-Do we have such a praying team with our Leaders today?
All were perseverant until victory was worn.
-Do we have such an enduring team today?
None of the 4 claimed the Glory.
-Do we fight for God’s glory today?
Why do anything in a mediocre way?

-Wise people
say, “If it is worth doing, it is worth doing right.” Add to that, “If it is
worth doing, it is worth giving your very best.”
IT HAS BEEN SAID:
“Doing our best for God means persevering even when we are weary.”
“True dedication is staying in position until the victory is secured.”
“When God assigns you to the mountain, give Him your strength there.”
“Obedience must be carried out with courage
and energy.”
“Do not step into God’s assignment halfway—run into it with all your strength.”
“God honors those who fight faithfully in the place He assigns them.”
“Doing our best for God includes strengthening
others.”
“Sometimes your greatest work for God is helping someone else not to fall.”
“Faithfulness is holding your place until the work is done.”
“God does not require the same role from
everyone, but He requires the same commitment.”
“When everyone gives their best in their God-given place, God gives His best in return.”
CHALLENGE FOR ACTION:
What are everyday tasks I tend to rush, delay, or do half-heartedly?
How can I practice “do it with thy might” in ordinary situations
What is one specific change in attitude or effort I can make?
How do I deal with distractions, discouragement, or fatigue so I still “work” faithfully?
What will help me stay focused when I feel tired or unmotivated?
What will I do, how will I do it with integrity, and how will I keep going until it’s done?
Will I be happy to reap what I’m sowing, with level of my commitment?
4. What do we learn from
Matthew 10:41,42? Phrase your explanation using a present-day situation.
“Doing our best for God means persevering even when we are weary.”
“True dedication is staying in position until the victory is secured.”
“When God assigns you to the mountain, give Him your strength there.”
“Do not step into God’s assignment halfway—run into it with all your strength.”

Matthew 10:41,42 41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
Any simple task that is done for the Lord will be noticed and will bring its reward. Those who fail to do the menial tasks the Lord has called them to do will be left outside the gates of Heaven.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
The why: It is the reason behind every decision and action – Motivation
God is a faithful and diligent Rewarder – every faithful service counts
Little is much, when done for God, faithfully
Recognize that giving is an investment, a seed that will produce in abundance
Recognize that giving is a proof of gratitude, love and discipleship
Recognize that giving is not limited to materials, silver and gold but, encouragement, prayers
“No act done for God is ever too small to be rewarded.”
“A cup of water given in love echoes into eternity.”
“Heaven measures faithfulness, not size.”
“You may not stand in the spotlight, but your support shines in heaven.”
“Those who lift others in ministry are lifted by God in reward.”
“When kindness is done for Christ’s sake, it becomes eternal.”
“God sees what men overlook and rewards what is done in sincerity.”
“In a world chasing greatness, God honors simple faithfulness.”
“Your daily kindness may be someone else’s answered prayer.”
What is one “small” act of care you can offer that still carries spiritual significance?
How does Matthew 10:41–42 challenge me to respect people based on God’s work in them, not my feelings or status?
What is one practical way I will serve someone this week like I’m serving Jesus?
Are God’s children your family?
5. In 1 Samuel 30:24, what
is meant by, “so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part
alike”? Give an application that would have meaning to us today.
1 Samuel 30:24 24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
All participants share equally in the reward.
It is the faithfulness in doing a task that brings the reward.
God is the Rewarder – “A penny a day” – He knows how to reward accurately
Faithfulness is key in God’s reward’s plan
Availability is crucial – How do you respond to a call to service
Willingness is a golden choice – You are the one to profit
Obedience to accept and embrace God’s spiritual dispatch mechanism
Diversity of duty posts – Different needs but same service attitude
Ready to go, ready to stay
When the Church is revived who takes the glory?
The Preacher preaches the word
The choir sing the song
The Ushers cleans the hall
The Media ensure messages get out clearly
The night guard keeps the premises secure
The farmer, labourers, businessmen, drivers, janitors pay tithe used to pay municipality bill, maintain infrastructure, help the poor
All will have their reward.
Some are visible workers, others are not, but the reward will be visible soon.
Equality - General rewards, Equitability - rewarded as one is committed faithfully
“In God’s kingdom, the battlefield and the supply line share the same reward.”
“Those who stay with the ‘stuff’ are just as vital as those who face the battle.”
“God does not rank service by visibility, but by faithfulness.”

“Your place in the work does not limit your portion in the reward.”
“Stay faithful where God places you; your reward is secure.”
Where do I need to serve faithfully even if no one notices me?
Which task has God placed in my hands right now, and how can I do it with full loyalty?
What decision will I make to keep doing my part today—without resentment or quitting?
How faithful are you in great/visible and small/intangible things?
Proverbs 31:20, Matthew 14:31, Mark 9:27, Mark 10:16, Acts 3:7, Acts 9:41
Proverbs 31:20 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

Our hands, and what we do with them, are tools for reaching out to humanity.
We may not have the same power as Jesus and Peter to heal the sick and raise the dead. But most of us can use our hands to help alleviate the suffering of the sick and needy.
God blessed each of us with “Gifted Hands” in various capacities
How we use it is on us – Are we using it to reach out or causing trouble?
Your hands are inputs for blessed investments – use it right and well
Our hands have the potentials of doing great works and exploits for God

“A life of good works is remembered, and God honors it.”
What can I prepare, deliver, clean up, organize, or provide that would lighten someone’s burden?
How can I use my hands to serve with compassion, not just with good intentions?
What is one commitment I will follow through on, even if it takes effort?
- what I’ll do, who I’ll help, and when I’ll do it—so my service becomes real.
LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
The difference may be that it is unlikely we will be called to stand out on a battlefield, engaged in physical conflict.
But we are engaged in spiritual warfare and must be as willing to be supportive and to do our part as these men were.
Spiritual blessings and capacity: Beautiful for situations and timeless – all seasons
The platform for battle may be different
-We may not be called engage in physical combat
The same Spiritual warfare (spiritual level – the most critical part of the warfare)
Pray faithfully for others (like Moses)
Live obediently and boldly (like Joshua)
Encourage and support others (like Aaron and Hur)
Stay committed, even when the battle feels long
The Team with same attitude is needed to fight the different “Amalekites” of today
Youth Amalekites
Marriage Amalekites
Children Amalekites
Financial and Economic Amalekites
Political Amalekites
Social Amalekites
Drug and GBV Amalekites
“In the warfare that is raging
For the truth and for the right,
When the conflict, fierce, is raging
With the powers of the night,
God needs people brave and true:
May He then depend on you?

Where is my “battle” today?
In what ways can I be like Joshua (active effort/obedience), and what changes might be needed because my circumstances are different?
How can I imitate the support team (Aaron and Hur) when I can’t do the front-line work?
What role does faithful leadership and prayerful perseverance play today and how can I apply this in my leadership role?
LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
Picking up paper from the church floor, replacing hymn books in the racks, numerous other jobs in the line of tidying up, playing an instrument, pass out church papers and tracts, etc.
