DEBORAH - WIN THE VICTORY

DEBORAH - WIN THE VICTORY

INTRODUCTION:
“Don’t worry” is a common statement that we hear often. The reality is that the assurance or otherwise of that statement depends on who is saying it – the capacity of that person to deliver as at when due and how effective the promise delivery would be.

“Fear not” is a familiar statement from the Bible and Bible scholars noted that there are about 365 “fear not” in the Bible – that is one “Fear not” for each day of the year. We want to establish through this lesson, why it is true that “if God be for us, who can be against us?”

Deborah, a female Prophetess and Judge is a classic example that proved that we are just instruments in God’s hands and our yielding and obedience to Him will make us to achieve wonderful exploits irrespective of our gender or natural abilities.

1. What was Deborah’s occupation? What did that mean in terms of her civic responsibilities?

KEY POINTS & LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
Occupation & Call (Secular & Spiritual)
- Choice, trained, Engagement, Responsibilities, opportunities, commitments
Today: Double Occupation (Secular & Spiritual)
-Both should impact each other - All for Kingdom's purpose
God’s calls are not gender based - Called, faithful chosen
Do you an Occupation and a call? - What's in it for God?

Deborah was a prophetess and judge in Israel.
-She was God’s spokesperson to the people and settled disputes among the people.
Judges in early Biblical times were responsible for guiding the affairs of the people, by the direction and appointment of God.
Their duties included selecting men for warfare, teaching the Law to the people, and acting as leaders in a military capacity.
They settled religious and judicial disputes, as well.

1. God’s Call to Leadership Is Sovereign and Purposeful:
Deborah’s leadership was not self-appointed — it was divinely ordained.
God raises leaders according to His purpose, not human tradition.
Deborah’s calling came in a time of national crisis.
“God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the mighty.”
1 Corinthians 1:27
Leadership is not a title; it is a divine assignment.
2. Deborah Carried Dual Responsibilities: Prophetess and Judge:
True leadership blends spiritual authority and practical responsibility.
“She dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah… and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.” Judges 4:5
“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” Amos 3:7
God’s leaders must hear heaven and handle earth.
3. The Call to Leadership Requires Courage and Obedience:
Deborah boldly delivered God’s command to Barak.
Leadership requires moral courage.
God’s message must be spoken even when it is uncomfortable.
 Obedience activates victory.
“Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded…?” Judges 4:6
“Be strong and of a good courage… for the LORD thy God is with thee.” Joshua 1:9
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” Isaiah 1:19
4. God’s Leaders Inspire Others into Their Calling:
Deborah did not fight alone — she mobilized others.
Leadership is not about control but empowerment.
 Deborah’s faith ignited Barak’s courage.
Great leaders awaken greatness in others.
“Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand.” Judges 4:14
“And Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.” Judges 4:14
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.” Hebrews 10:24
Leadership multiplies strength by releasing others.
5. Leadership Carries Accountability Before God:
Deborah’s song in Judges 5 reveals deep awareness of responsibility.
Leaders are accountable for both obedience and influence.
Faithfulness brings honor; negligence brings loss.
God records the actions of His leaders.
“Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.” Judges 5:2
“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:10
6. God Honors Faithful Leadership with Lasting Impact:
Deborah’s leadership brought peace to the nation.
Obedient leadership releases national blessing.
 Faithful leaders leave generational testimony.
God establishes peace through righteous leadership.
“And the land had rest forty years.” Judges 5:31
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.” Proverbs 29:2
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21

Deborah teaches us that the call to leadership is not about position but obedience; not about privilege but responsibility; not about power but purpose.

2. What characteristics of Deborah made her outstanding? How did the Lord use these characteristics?

KEY POINTS & LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
Preparations, training and spiritual character building is vital
- Will determine where and how God will dispatch you
Making our call and election sure is our responsibility
God may appoint but we need Christian virtues to be outstanding

Deborah’s faith in God’s Word, and her courage.
-These attributes were demonstrated as Deborah went with the army into the battle.
Her faith and courage were instrumental in the victory that God gave Israel.

1. Faith in God’s Word: The Foundation of Godly Leadership:
Deborah’s leadership was anchored in absolute confidence in God’s Word.
True leaders believe God’s Word before circumstances change.
Faith gives leaders clarity, direction, and confidence.
God works through leaders who trust His promises completely.
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7
God entrusts leadership to those who trust His Word.
2. Courage: The Mark of Authentic Leadership:
Deborah demonstrated courage by standing firm when others hesitated.
Courage is acting on God’s Word despite fear or opposition.
God’s leaders do not wait for ideal conditions.
Courage releases God’s power in impossible situations.
“Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand.”
Judges 4:14
“Be strong and of a good courage… for the LORD thy God is with thee.” Joshua 1:9
“The righteous are bold as a lion.” Proverbs 28:1
“God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7
God’s work advances when leaders move forward in courage.
3. How God Uses These Characteristics:
A. Faith Activates Divine Direction:
God revealed His strategy through Deborah’s faith.
 Faith attracts divine instruction.
Psalm 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
B. Courage Mobilizes Others:
Deborah’s courage stirred Barak and the nation to action.
“And Barak went down… and ten thousand men after him.” Judges 4:14
C. Faith and Courage Release Victory:
Israel’s victory was the fruit of Deborah’s faith-filled courage.
“So the LORD discomfited Sisera.” Judges 4:15
“If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
D. God Honors These Traits with Lasting Impact:
The nation experienced peace for forty years.
“And the land had rest forty years.” Judges 5:31

3. Which verse shows Deborah was an inspiration to Barak?

 KEY POINTS & LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
Self-preparation and development are vital - Precept upon precepts
-Growth and development manifest and impact on self-first
-You can't give what you don't have
As we grow, others will observe it - Light and salt impact
Importance of mentoring others - Directly or indirectly
You are an influencer - what are you influencing?

Deborah’s courage revealed in verse 9 - "I will surely go with thee "
This was an inspiration to Barak, as shown in verse 8. "If thou wilt go with me, then I will go"
When one wholly follows the Lord and His Word, that person becomes an example and inspiration to others.
A Christian’s willingness to completely perform God’s will often influence others to do likewise.

Barak: “If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.” (v.8)
Deborah: “I will surely go with thee…” (v.9)
Barak’s courage was released by Deborah’s presence, confidence, and faith in God’s Word.

1. Leaders Inspire Through Personal Faith:
Deborah believed God’s word before the battle began.
“Faith is contagious; when a leader believes God, others find courage to follow.”
2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Romans 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Her certainty in God’s command gave Barak confidence to move.
2. Leaders Inspire by Their Willing Presence:
Barak did not ask Deborah for strategy — he asked for companionship.
“If thou wilt go with me, then I will go.”
Deborah’s presence strengthened his heart.
“Leadership is not about standing above people, but walking with them.”
3. Leaders Inspire by Sacrificial Commitment:
Deborah did not hesitate: “I will surely go with thee.”
True leaders inspire when others see their willingness to sacrifice comfort for obedience.
“Nothing motivates like a leader who is willing to share the risk.”
4. Leaders Inspire Through Honest Counsel:
Deborah did not flatter Barak.
She spoke truth in love:
“Notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour…” (v.9)
“Encouragement does not require deception; great leaders speak truth with grace.”
5. Leaders Inspire by Elevating God’s Purpose Above Personal Glory:
Deborah pointed Barak beyond personal recognition to God’s larger plan.
“The Lord shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.”
“When leaders surrender personal glory, God’s glory advances.”
6. Leaders Inspire by Awakening Hidden Courage
Barak already had potential —
Deborah’s leadership unlocked it.
“The greatest leaders do not create strength; they reveal it.”
7. Know the way, follow the way and show the way:
1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

RESULT: INSPIRED OBEDIENCE PRODUCES VICTORY
Because Deborah inspired Barak:
He moved in obedience
Israel experienced deliverance
God’s purpose was fulfilled

Deborah teaches us that:
When leaders walk in faith, courage, humility, and commitment,
they become God’s instrument for inspiring others into victory.

IT HAS BEEN SAID:
“Be the kind of leader whose faith gives others permission to believe God for more.”
“One inspired leader can awaken an entire nation.”

4. The opposite of confidence in God is fear. Using 1 John 4:16-18 as a reference, explain how to rid your heart of fear.

1 John 4:16-18
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

 KEY POINTS & LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
Faith and fear are too opposites - One negates the other - when allowed
Faith builds confidence in God - Fear brings doubts
For every fear, there is promise to dispel it - "Fear not" (365 in Bible)
Study to show yourself approved unto God (for your own good)
- Your faith can never rise above your knowledge of God's word that you know and apply

These verse tell how to rid our heart from the fear of the Judgment, by receiving the love that God has made possible for us.
-Sin brings fear (The first fear to dispel is sin)
This does not mean that one with the love of God in his heart will never experience a moment of anxiety when faced with a fearsome situation. -Rather, this knowledge gives a person confidence in the many promises that God has given.
“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?” (Psalm 118:6).

1. Abide in the Knowledge of God’s Love:
Fear weakens when we know and believe God’s love.
“Fear loses its power when God’s love becomes your dwelling place.”
When God’s love becomes your home, fear becomes a visitor with no authority.
2. Remain in Close Fellowship with God:
Fear thrives in distance from God;
confidence grows in intimacy with God.
“The nearer we walk with God, the further fear must flee.”
3. Let God’s Love Mature in You:
Fear is displaced as God’s love matures in our hearts.
“Immature love fears; perfected love rests.”
Spiritual growth is the enemy of fear.
4. Live with Eternal Perspective:
When eternity is settled in the heart,
temporal fears lose control.
“He who knows where he is going is not afraid of the road.”
5. Replace Fear with Confidence in Christ’s Identity in You:
“Because as He is, so are we in this world.” — v.17
Knowing who we are in Christ dissolves fear.
“You cannot fear what you understand you have authority over.”
7. Let Perfect Love Actively Drive Fear Out:
1 Jon 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
God’s love does not merely cover fear — it casts it out.
“Fear is evicted when love takes ownership.”

THE PATH TO A FEAR-FREE HEART
Know God’s love
Believe God’s love
Dwell in God’s love
Grow in God’s love
Rest in God’s love

RELATED SCRIPTURE:
1 John 4:16–18 “God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him…There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear…”

IT HAS BEEN SAID:
“When the heart settles in God’s love, the mind releases fear.”
“Fear cannot survive in a heart that is fully occupied by God’s love.”

5. In Romans 8:35-39 we read of many things that we might face as we go through life, yet we can be more than conquerors through Him who loves us. How many of these experiences have you gone through? Give an example from your experience.

Romans 8:35-39 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

KEY POINTS & LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
Time and circumstances happen to all
- What is most important is who's side you are (God or Satan)
The Victory side is God's side - Satan is a loser in every aspect
Conqueror?
- person who conquers a place or people; a vanquisher
- one who wins a country in war, subdues or subjugates a people, or overcomes an adversary.
More than conquerors?
-Unlimited - Heaven and earth - All inclusive
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

None of these circumstances need separate us from Christ.
However, we may have actually gone through some sort of distress or persecution or even peril.
-God’s promises are sure and His grace sufficient if one is called upon to go through any of these situations.

1. Life Brings Many Trials — But None Can Separate Us from Christ
Believers are not exempt from hardship.
Christianity does not remove storms; it anchors us in them.
Our relationship with Christ is stronger than circumstances.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” Romans 8:35

“Trials may shake our lives, but they cannot shake God’s love.”
“What touches our situation cannot touch our salvation.”
“The storms we face only reveal the strength of the Savior we serve.”
2. Our Victory Is Not Survival — It Is Supernatural Triumph:
We do not merely endure; we overcome.
“More than conquerors” means complete, decisive victory.
The battle may wound us, but it will not defeat us.
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
 Romans 8:37
“We do not fight for victory; we fight from victory.”
“The cross changed our defeat into destiny.”
“God does not just bring us through — He brings us out on top.”
3. Our Strength Comes From His Unchanging Love
Victory flows from relationship, not effort.
His love is the source of our endurance.
The same love that saved us sustains us.
“…through him that loved us.” Romans 8:37
“When strength runs out, His love carries on.”
“God’s love is the power supply of the believer’s life.”
“We conquer not because we are strong, but because we are loved.”
4. No Force in Existence Can Cancel God’s Purpose for Us:
Paul lists every possible enemy — spiritual, physical, present, future.
Nothing in time or eternity can break our union with Christ.
Our security is eternal, unbreakable, guaranteed.
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life… nor things present, nor things to come… nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God…”
Romans 8:38–39
“What God joins together, no force in heaven or hell can tear apart.”
“Our salvation is anchored beyond the reach of every storm.”
“If God holds you, nothing else can remove you.”
5. Our Future Is Secure No Matter What We Face
Present suffering is temporary; eternal victory is certain.
The believer’s story always ends in glory.
We walk forward in unshakable hope.
“The road may be rough, but the destination is sure.”
“No trial can rewrite the ending God has written for His children.”
“The darkest night cannot cancel God’s promised dawn.”

6. There are things that we must do in order to have a victorious life in Christ, without fear. Using God’s Word as a guide, finish the following verses:
When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh ___________ . — Proverbs 16:7
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall _____________ . — Psalm 119:16
Be careful [worried] for nothing; let your requests be made know unto God. And the of God, which passeth all _________________ . — Philippians 4:6-7
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, _____________ : because he _______________ . — Isaiah 26:3

Proverbs 16:7 7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Psalm 119:165 165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
Philippians 4:6-7 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3 3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

KEY POINTS & LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
Jesus has the victory secured before we face the challenges
A relationship with Jesus - Salvation, positions us to claim the provisions
Studying and applying God's word actualize the promises
Faith and obedience access covenant provisions
1. Our ways pleases the Lord: our enemies become oasis of peace
2. Love God’s law: Nothing shall offend us
3. Avoid worries but Pray:
4. Trust in God:

These are things we must do in order to have a victorious life in Christ without fear.

1. Walk in Obedience and Please the Lord
Proverbs 16:7 “When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
Victory begins with a life that pleases God.
Obedience positions us for divine favor and protection.
When God is pleased, He becomes our defender and peacemaker.
“The safest place in life is in the will of God.”
 “Obedience turns opposition into opportunity.”
“When God is for you, even your enemies must stand down.”
2. Love God’s Word and Walk in It:
Psalm 119:165 “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”
Loving God’s Word produces great peace.
A heart anchored in God’s word becomes offense-proof.
The Word stabilizes the soul and silences fear.
“The more the Word controls you, the less the world can disturb you.”
“A heart full of  is a heart free from fear.”
“Nothing can shake a soul that is anchored in God’s truth.”
3. Pray Instead of Panic:
Philippians 4:6–7 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
“And the peace of God… shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Fear loses its grip when prayer takes control.
Prayer invites God’s peace into our inner world.
Thanksgiving shifts our focus from problem to Provider.
“If it is big enough to worry about, it is big enough to pray about.”
“Prayer is fear’s greatest enemy.” “When we pray, God’s peace stands guard over our hearts.”
4. Keep Your Mind Stayed on the Lord
Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Peace is the fruit of a focused mind.
What fills the mind determines the state of the heart.
Trust in God produces perfect peace.
“A wandering mind invites fear; a focused mind invites peace.”
“Peace does not come from changed circumstances, but from changed focus.”
“When your mind rests on God, fear has nowhere to live.”

7. Listed below are the names of several man and women of the Bible. How does your experience compare with theirs?
Adam and Eve temptation
Cain hatred
Samuel answering the call
Job affliction
Daniel purpose
Paul thorn in the flesh

KEY POINTS & LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
We are not alone on the spiritual journey
- Many have fought and won
The recorded failures are written as a warning unto us (avoid same)
-The wise will learn from these and be wiser
There is yet hope - Perhaps you have not been listening to instructions

The focus is on the positive effects of responding correctly in each of the situations.
“If God be for us, who can be against us?”
Even in Cain’s instance, if he had listened to God’s admonition, he would have avoided the problems that came upon him.
-Listen -Obey -Take action -Follow consistently

IT HAS BEEN SAID:
“Our response to trouble often determines the testimony of our life.”

1. Adam & Eve — When Facing Temptation
Temptation is defeated by obedience and trust, not curiosity and compromise.
 Wrong Response:

They listened to the voice of deception
 They questioned God’s Word
 They acted independently of God
 Correct Response for Us:
 Stand on God’s Word
 Reject the enemy’s lies
 Choose obedience over desire
“Every temptation tests who we trust the most.”
“The moment we doubt God’s Word, we weaken our defense.”
 “Victory begins with obedience.”
2. Cain — When Dealing with Hatred & Anger
Uncontrolled anger becomes destructive sin.
 Wrong Response:
 Cain allowed jealousy to grow
 Refused correction from God
 Let anger turn into murder
 Correct Response for Us:
 Guard the heart
 Submit emotions to God
 Choose humility and repentance
“Unhealed anger will always lead to deeper damage.”
“The heart you refuse to correct will eventually destroy you.”
“Victory begins in mastering your spirit.”
3. Samuel — When God Is Calling
Right Response:
“Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth.”
Spiritual success comes from a listening, obedient heart.
“A willing ear produces a victorious life.”
 “God’s call demands our surrender.”
“The sooner we answer God, the clearer His direction becomes.”
4. Job — When Suffering & Affliction Comes
Right Response:
“The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”
Faith remains firm even when circumstances collapse.
“Faith is trusting God when life makes no sense.”
“Suffering tests faith, but it also strengthens it.”
“A faithful heart glorifies God in the darkest night.”
5. Daniel — When Under Pressure to Compromise
“Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself.”
Victory begins with a settled decision before the trial comes.
Conviction formed early becomes courage when tested.”
“Those who stand for God will never stand alone.”
 “Purpose protects purity.”
6. Paul — When Living with Ongoing Struggles:
Right Response:
“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”
God’s grace does not remove every burden, but it empowers us to carry it.
“Grace does not always change the situation, but it always changes the strength of the servant.”
“Weakness becomes power when surrendered to God.”
“What we cannot remove, God uses to refine us.”

8. In this lesson we see God intervening for Israel against another nation, and giving them a physical deliverance. Today we do not wrestle against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12). What kind of deliverance can God give us? See Ephesians 6:13.

Ephesians 6:12 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

KEY POINTS & LESSON INSPIRATIONS:
Physical challenges requires spiritual intervention
The Spirit controls the physical
Today, we have more spiritual wars to fight
- If we have spiritual victory, the physical is a walk over

God gives us spiritual victory over our adversaries.

Without any doubt, it is true and certain that “if God be for us, who can be against us?”
-Nothing and nobody can withstand God.

1. Our Real Battles Are Spiritual, Not Physical
Many visible problems are rooted in invisible conflict.
Misunderstanding the battlefield leads to fighting the wrong enemy.
Spiritual discernment is essential for true victory.
“You cannot win a spiritual war with natural weapons.”
“What you see is not the real enemy — the real enemy is unseen.”
“When you understand the battlefield, you change your strategy.”
2. Victory Comes Through God’s Armor, Not Human Strength
We overcome by divine equipment, not human ability.
The armor represents truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word.
Every piece is defensive except the Word, our offensive weapon.
“The armor of God is the wardrobe of the victorious believer.”
“Spiritual victory is sustained by spiritual discipline.”
“Heaven’s armor outperforms earth’s strength.”
3 . Spiritual Victories Produce Eternal Results:
Earthly wins fade; spiritual victories echo in eternity.
What is won in the spirit governs what unfolds in life.
Heaven recognizes spiritual triumph long before the world does.
“What God settles in the spirit controls what unfolds in life.”
“Spiritual victories outlive physical battles.”
“Heaven’s victories never expire.”

Our warfare is spiritual.
Our weapons are divine.
Our deliverance is eternal.
Our victory is certain.
We do not merely survive — we stand.

CONCLUSION: IF GOD BE FOR US

1. Rejoice in the Lord! O let His mercy, cheer,
He sunders the bands that enthral;
Redeemed by His blood, why should we ever fear,
Since Jesus is our “all in all?”

Refrain:
“If God be for us, if God be for us,
If God be for us,
Who can be against us,
Who, who, who?
Who can be against us, against us?”

2. Be strong in the Lord! Rejoicing in His might,
Be loyal and true day by day;
When evils assail, be valiant for the right,
And He will be our strength, our stay. [Refrain]

3. Confide in His Word, His promises so sure;
In Christ they are “yea, and amen”;
Tho’ earth pass away, they ever shall endure,
‘Tis written o’er and o’er again. [Refrain]

4. Abide in the Lord, secure in His control,
‘Tis life everlasting begun;
To pluck from His hand the weakest, trembling soul,
It never, never can be done! [Refrain]
